A strategic move for continued growth
Meeples Group, the platform that connects board game brands, shops, and retailers, is taking an important step. The company is relocating from Dronten to Zeewolde. With this move, Meeples is consciously choosing more space, better growth opportunities, and a future-proof location.
From startup to scale-up
The company was founded in September 2021 by Rients-Auke Rienstra and Floris Toorenburg, with one clear mission: to make finding and buying the right board game as easy as possible. To achieve this, Meeples developed its own platform that brings together the entire board game value chain, from producer to consumer.
What began in an attic room quickly outgrew its space. In 2022, Meeples moved to a small warehouse in Swifterbant, followed by additional storage space in Dronten. In June 2023, the company moved into its own premises on Het Weerijs in Dronten. That same year, Meeples was named Talent Company of the Year 2023 by the municipality of Dronten. In November 2024, another move followed, this time to a larger building on Bedrijfsweg 14 in Dronten – with a capacity that quickly proved insufficient as demand grew to up to 2,000 orders per day.
At the same time, entrepreneurs Rients-Auke and Floris had been searching since 2023 for their own plot of land within the municipality of Dronten. Co-founder Floris Toorenburg explains:
“Since 2023, we have been looking around for plots and locations within the municipality of Dronten. We also had advanced discussions with several parties, but an actual option to purchase our own plot never materialized. After waiting a long time for the release of plots that were under option at Poort van Dronten, we had to make a decision, and moving outside Dronten turned out to be the only sensible choice.”
A future-proof location in Zeewolde
In December 2025, Meeples Group signed for a new office and warehouse building at Ambachtsweg 37 in Zeewolde. The 4,800 m2 location offers space for more than 5,000 pallet positions – fully supporting the company’s current capacity of 2,000 orders per day and the growth ahead. The coming months will focus on a careful transition, ensuring that operations continue without delay. Meeples Group currently employs around 35 people.
Regarding the move, Floris Toorenburg says:
“We find it very unfortunate to leave Dronten. This is where we started, and we have worked here with great pleasure. I grew up here myself, and Rients-Auke still lives nearby. At the same time, we are looking forward to further developing the company in Zeewolde and becoming part of the innovative entrepreneurial climate there.”
With this strategic relocation, Meeples Group strengthens its position and secures a location that supports its future plans. The platform in the board game industry will continue to innovate and reinforce its position in the market.
